Kids always love space ships, that is the reasons we cannot forget Lego set #1682, the Space Shuttle Launch was released almost 27 years ago. In June 2017, Adam Woodworth created a tiny drone version of Lego’s shuttle these can easily fly in the vicinity, now he has come up with the larger version that can soar through the sky like an RC plane.
He says,
"This one ended up actually flying quite well. It's also based on the Classic Town 1682 Set "Space Shuttle Launch" I took the plans I drew for the 1:1 scale version, and up-sized to 5x. The whole thing is built out of 1.3lb 9mm EPP foam sheet. I learned my lesson with the LEGO Plane, and wanted something that could take a few dings and stay in one piece. Took a while to figure out where to put the motors. There's not much "wing" to cut a slot and put them in, so I ended up putting them on the elevons, making for a sort of thrust vectoring. This makes for some cool flips, but roll is super sensitive. Still, a pretty fun plane to fly, that I think will get a lot of stick time out at the field. Flies almost like a proper plane."
