Photographer Spent 20 Years to Capture Dark Side of A Social State

Soviet photographer Sokolaev has named this series of photos taken by him something that can be translated as “Unattractive and hidden side of socialism”. He had been taking those photos for a period of twenty years from the 1970s to the late 1980s. Of course, the work need to be secretly done because the Soviets would not tolerate such a dark side of social state. However, this series really turns out to be very dark and really causes of awe when viewed now, almost forty years later.
