In order to easily access the digestive tract of the cows, the farmers in Switzerland have fitted 14 cows with cannulas. These cannulas were fitted after a research so that the farmers would get a better understanding of the cow’s nutrition. This would help them improve the farming methods and pay attention to cattle-raising.
This is an invasive technique to check the cows nutrition.
8-inch cannulas are fixed in their sides.
After examining the cow’s digestive system the farmers can shut the cannulas using the rubber plugs.
The cows are being given different varieties of oats and other crops and after seeing how well they digest them, further research will be conducted.
The cannula is inserted through a surgical procedure and afterwards the cow is put under examination for testing of various crops.
Like this healthier varieties of crops are found for the cattle and the products obtained from them can also be improved. These cows have a longer life span too.
The animal care department found out that the cows passing through this process are not harmed, infact their quality of life is improved because of the care they get. Now we see that this practice is becoming famous.
The cannula technique is proving to be a great method for new-age farming so more and more farmers across the globe are adopting this technique.
