A Luxurious Underground Hole In The Australian Desert Becomes Home To Thousands

If you enjoy living underground than Cober Pedy is the place for you. It has evolved to be one of the unique places to visit. The town has become home to thousands of people and is fast becoming cosmopolitan with 3,500 people.

The town had been built originally as an opal-mining town. But today in addition to the opal mining industry it generates revenue from tourism also.  Its underground network covers an area as big as France and Germany put together.

All the houses built in this underground town are properly furnished and there are well-built churches, restaurants and hotels for the people. Here the people prefer to live underground because the temperatures are 23-25 degrees C throughout the year.
