A cute girl was fighting for her life as she was born with half of her skull missing – but the truth is she has amazed doctors by her progress.
Baby Ah Neath, who was born in February 2018 in a very distant village in eastern Cambodia with a hollow crater in the front of her head and it jutted to the back of her head.
Her mother Srey and dad Heang had to sell their family house for paying their little girls medical bills.
The doctors believe she has anencephaly – a medical condition which means a portion of brain and skull are missing.
Neath had been in hospital since birth almost for two months, where she was put on regular oxygen to keep breathing.
Recently She was discharged and now is living with her family in the Ponhea Kraek District.
Mum Srey said: “I knew there was something very wrong with my baby when she was born.
“I have cried for days and asked people to donate money.
“’We are poor and have sold our home and land to try to save my daughter. She is healthy, but her head does not have all of the skull.
“’We are facing hardship and struggling to raise her to survive on the planet.
“Our only hope is that doctors may be able to help, or a foreign doctor may help.”
The whole family including relative have requested people for crowdfunding to take their baby girl back to a hospital for proper medical aid in the capital city Phnom Penh, where she can be taken care of by doctors and get better treatment.
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention explains anencephaly being a serious birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull which is mainly due to neural tube defect.
