Hurricane Harvey ‘Category 4’ Storm Hit Texas And Other Coastal Areas

Tens of thousands of Texans have evacuated to safer areas as the Category 4 hurricane Harvey hit.


Hurricane Harvey hit hard into the Texas coast last Friday and made landfall at Port Aransas and bringing a “life-threatening storm surge,” and makes it the most dangerous storm that hit the Lone Star State of the decade.

Hurricane Harvey was upgraded to Category 4 on Friday with pacing 130 mph wind speed with a mountainous surge of “floodwaters roaring 6 to 12 feet above ground level near the coast” announced earlier by the National Hurricane Center.

“At the request of the Governor of Texas, I have signed the Disaster Proclamation, which unleashes the full force of government help!” President Donald Trump tweeted late Friday after speaking with Gov. Greg Abbott.

After it was announced "Category 4" the President made sure the proper help reaches there at the time of need. 

President Assured His Full Support

President is all set to show his full support at the time of pressing need. 

"At the request of the Governor of Texas, I have signed the Disaster Proclamation, which unleashes the full force of government help!" President Donald Trump tweeted late Friday after speaking with Gov. Greg Abbott.

"Anyone who shows up can get a ride," Lisa Oliver, of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department, told the Caller-Times. "We just need your basic information and bring your personal belongings to stay at the shelter (in San Antonio)."

Tens of Thousands of Texans Have Evacuated

For three hours after the terrifying Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas being a Category 4 storm, it downgraded later on to a Category 3 storm as the winds decreased to 125 mph from a maximum of 130 mph that destroyed the city.

A second landfall was reported on the northeastern shore of Copano Bay as it was downgraded. 

As of 1 a.m. local time, it was 5 miles north of Rockport, Texas, and moving northwest at 6 mph.

The storm is believed to the strongest to hit the state in decades, with a most catastrophic flooding expected. It was the Category 4 storm which is the last of it to hit the U.S. was Charley which hit in 2004 in Florida, while the last Category 4 storm to hit  ' Texas was Carla which hit in 1961'.

The residents stayed indoors hastily stocked up the food, water and gas, while others who were heading out of the storm's path bolted up windows and doors of the places where they were stuck in and businesses.

The flights were canceled, schools were immediately shutdown while the concerts and other upcoming events in Houston and coastal cities were postponed.

Thousands of the people living by the coastal areas have evacuated.
